Atlantic Hurricane Gabrielle swirls southeast of Bermuda as Tropical Storm Narda forms off Mexico
MIAMI — Hurricane Gabrielle formed Sunday in the open Atlantic southeast of Bermuda, while Tropical Storm Narda emerged well off southern Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Hurricane Gabrielle is continuing to barrel across the Central Subtropical Atlantic as a monster Category 4 hurricane on Tuesday morning. In addition to the threat of Hurricane Gabrielle, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is also monitoring two other areas for potential tropical development in the Atlantic.
Gabrielle strengthened into a major hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean on Monday but was forecast to remain away from land.

Hurricane Gabrielle has gotten its act together as it churns over the open waters of the central subtropical Atlantic, and forecasters say the storm has rapidly intensified into a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher).

National Hurricane Center: Hurricane Gabrielle strengthens into powerful Category 4 storm
Hurricane Gabrielle strengthened into a powerful Category 4 storm Monday evening as it churned past Bermuda, forecasters said.
At 5 a.m. Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Category 4 Hurricane Gabrielle is in the Atlantic Ocean, 305 miles east-northeast of Bermuda and 1,855 miles west of the Azores. Packing maximum sustained winds of 140 mph, the hurricane is tracking northeast at 13 mph.
Humberto strengthened into a hurricane Friday morning and could reach major hurricane status by the weekend, the National Hurricane Center said.
The storm, the first hurricane to strike the Portuguese islands in more than a decade, seemed not to cause significant damage.
