Humberto, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by the end of September, may be heading toward Bermuda.

At 11 p.m. Friday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Category 4 Hurricane Humberto is in the Atlantic Ocean, 390 miles northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. The hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 145 mph, is moving west at 7 mph.

Humberto is about 465 miles northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and is moving slowly toward the northwest. It is expected to strengthen substantially over the weekend to become a major hurricane, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

As the National Hurricane Center tracks Hurricane Humberto, it's watching a tropical wave likely to become Tropical Storm Imelda.

A hurricane warning was in effect for the volcanic archipelago which could experience dangerous conditions from Gabrielle as early as Thursday.

Humberto is expected to become a hurricane by the weekend, but a nearby tropical wave is making its path uncertain, forecasters said.

Effects from Hurricane Humberto and Invest 94L on the US remain difficult to predict, but risks along the coast between Florida and NC are rising.
