The PNJ narrowed down its list from 16 to create a poll for the Preseason Flag Football Player of the Year for the 2025 season. The poll closes on Feb. 18.

The Houston Texans launched their girls' flag football program in the Houston area in 2023 to help "create equitable opportunities for young female athletes." They now plan to bring the program to two Austin-area school districts.

The NFL is pushing hard to increase girls flag football participation, and that effort is working at the high school level as it is one of the fastest growing sports at the prep level. The league is taking advantage of its huge platform during the Super Bowl tonight to run a fun two-inute ad entitled “Flag 50,” and it is pretty cool.

The female athletes in the spot are all played by real flag stars from around the world.
