U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war and annexation threats have upended Canada’s election and dramatically improved the fortunes of the Liberal Party, which could win a fourth consecutive term in power next week.

The president avoided predicting who could win the election, but said the US does not need Canada's cars, energy or lumber.

Trump made the comment after declining to weigh in on Canada's federal election, which has been dominated by the growing trade war with the U.S.
