A small team of researchers responsible for keeping clinicians up to date on contraception research has been cut. Doctors say they rely on the team's guidance when advising women about contraception.

On April 1, the staff of the CDC's Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program was terminated as part of the agency's reduction in force, according to NPR. The staff included epidemiologists, statisticians, and advisors who specialized in lead exposures and responses.

Health emergencies have not paused since January as cases of measles, salmonella, listeria and hepatitis A and C have spread throughout the country.

Measles cases have reached 1,046 as the virus continues spreading across the United States, according to data updated Friday from the CDC.
