Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G7 summit in Alberta later this month, an invitation Modi accepted despite strained ties between the countries.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that he had received an invitation from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to attend the G7 Summit in Kananaskis later this month. "Look forward to our meeting at the Summit," Modi said in a post on X.

Despite ongoing tension between the two countries on the issue of extremism, Bezirgan said he expects warmer ties henceforth as Carney has invited Prime Minister Modi for the G7 Summit.
