A 6-year-old child died in a residential fire near San Leandro early Thursday morning, according to fire officials. The blaze broke out around 5:25 a.m. at a residence in the 2000 block of Altamont Road, Cheryl Hurd of the Alameda County Fire Department said in a statement.
