Palmieri had 24 goals and 24 assists while playing all 82 games for the Islanders last season. He has 87 goals and 85 assists in 305 games with New York since arriving in a trade from New Jersey on April 7,

The New York Islanders have signed defenseman Adam Boqvist to a one-year contract. Boqvist, 24, scored 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) in 35 NHL games last season, including eight points (two goals, six assists) in 17 games with the Islanders. The Islanders claimed Boqvist off waivers from the Florida Panthers on Jan. 31, 2025.

The more notable re-signing is Palmieri, even if it was long expected. The pending unrestricted free agent was famously held on to at the trade deadline, with Lou Lamoriello — who didn’t want to trade Brock Nelson, either — saying contract discussions with Palmieri were underway.
