Yardbarker on MSNConnor Brown Returns for Oilers, Impact on Game 1 LineupThe Edmonton Oilers will get Connor Brown back for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final series against the Florida Panthers. This means that every player will be healthy, except Zach Hyman.
Edmonton Oilers winger Zach Hyman, checked by the Dallas Stars' Mason Marchment on Tuesday, will have surgery and is expected out for the playoffs.
“He’s a top player for us,” defenseman Brett Kulak said. “Tough to lose anybody, but especially he brings an element to the game and to our team that not too many guys around the league can bring to their team. It was tough to see him leave. Hopefully, he’s all right.”
Zach Hyman has lowered the boom on opponents all spring. The workhorse winger for the Edmonton Oilers by a wide margin led the NHL with 109 playoff hits entering Tuesday night. Hyman found himself on the receiving end early in Game 4 of the NHL’s Western Conference final and it didn’t look good.
Edmonton forward Connor Brown, who has been sidelined by an undisclosed injury, practiced on Sunday and will be available when the Oilers play the visiting Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday.
Known as a relentless forechecker, Hyman was on track to break the NHL record for most hits in a single postseason. After being credited with two hits before exiting Tuesday’s game, Hyman was up to 111 – just 15 shy of then-Tampa Bay Lightning winger Blake Coleman’s mark of 126 in 2020.
