The project on a river that runs through Tibet and India downstream could dwarf the Three Gorges Dam when completed.

Building has started on the world’s biggest hydro project in Tibet, predicted to give a jolt to sectors like construction, cement and steel.

China has begun construction of the biggest hydroelectric dam in the world. The dam will be located on the Tibetan Yarlung Tsangpo river, also known as the Brahmaputra and Jamuna, just 50 km away from the Indian border in Arunachal Pradesh.
