Marty Balin was a co-founder and lead singer of Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. At their height both bands were among the hottest in America. Balin has died at age 76.

Balin wrote and sang lead on “Miracles,” one of Starship’s biggest singles. The singer-songwriter was inducted, as a member of Jefferson Airplane, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
Despite their accidental doses, Jefferson Airplane’s Woodstock set is highly regarded today as an iconic moment in late 1960s rock history. For Slick, it’s not that great.
