A tsunami warning was issued on Wednesday for the Pacific coasts of Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Costa Rica, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.

A study of plastic trash hauled out of the Pacific Ocean found that most of it had been colonized by coastal life that was thriving right next to species that normally live in the open sea.
