A historic steam train has been travelling along a Powys railway, stopping at Welshpool station, as part of testing for a “world first” project.

The iconic Tornado steam engine visited Welshpool in the early hours of the morning as part of testing for the train.

The combined authority committee — made up of Mayor Norris and leaders of the three member councils — voted to approve £2.9million on pre-construction works for the new railway station.
