The department has added shade structures and drinking foundations to dozens of parks across the city. Right now, 29 parks have drinking fountains including Old Town Plaza, Tingley, and Sierra Sunset.

The ¡Sombra! Experiments in Shade structures have been opened at various parks throughout Phoenix in an effort to provide functional, artistic options for shade during excessive heat.
