FORECAST: high rip current risk, humidity, morning isolated showers, scattered showers and storms this afternoon and evening
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Autumn officially arrives at 2:19 p.m. Monday; temperatures will seem unfazed in consistently reaching the 80s all week. Rain and storm chances will start the week minimally and then grow to a healthier 50% with an approaching front Friday.
An isolated shower is possible coming off the Atlantic in the morning. But most neighborhoods will have a dry morning commute. Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to near 90. Beachgoers, beware of a high rip current risk. The fall equinox occurs on Monday at 2:19 p.m.
Kiko, once a Category 4 hurricane, weakened to a tropical storm, but will still bring the risk of heavy rainfall and dangerous surf to Hawaii.
Two tropical disturbances will warrant close watching as they lift north from the Caribbean in the coming days.
A cold front will approach late this week and will bring a chance for more showers and thunderstorms. The First Alert Weather team is also tracking two tropical waves with development potential.
