A solar eclipse will occur on March 29, 2025. It will be visible in parts of Europe, North America, and Africa. The eclipse will not be visible in India. The event has astronomical and astrological significance in India.

During a partial solar eclipse, the moon passes between the sun and Earth. The moon casts a shadow on Earth and only partly blocks the sun, making it appear like a crescent. Unlike a total solar eclipse, there’s no totality so experts say proper eye protection must be worn the whole time.

Skygazers across the East Midlands have been out in force looking up at a partial solar eclipse on Saturday. Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire had some of the clearest skies - albeit with a few clouds - and many saw the phenomenon which reached its peak just after 11:00 GMT.

On Saturday, the moon will cast its shadow on Earth’s surface, a phenomenon that people in parts of the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Russia and Africa will get to experience as a partial solar eclipse.

The partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. People will have the chance to see the Moon cover about 30 to 50% of the Sun at its peak, with the best chance of clear skies in south-east England,
