The Washington Commanders are signing a future Hall of Fame edge rusher, who paid tribute to a Washington legend in an Instagram post announcing the move.

The Saints' new white lid inverts the colors of the team's usual helmet palette, which normally features a black-and-white fleur-de-lis and center stripe on a gold background. The helmets will be defined by a white background with a gold fleur-de-lis and center stripe.

The burgundy pants, white jersey and burgundy helmet with the three stripes down the center will certainly evoke memories of Gibbs, John Riggins, Joe Theismann, Doug Williams and many others. What's missing will be the team's former Indian head logo,

The Washington NFL franchise has undergone two separate yet polarizing rebrands over the last six years. The Redskins moniker was ditched in 2020 for "Washington Football Team," and then "Football Team" replaced in 2022 with Commanders .
