Over on The Walking Dead 's Reddit page, one heartbroken fan who disliked how Rick and Carl's fate ended up in the series, decided to change it into something a lot more wholesome.

In "The Walking Dead" comics, Carl loses his eye during the event of issue #83. As in the show, walkers have swarmed into Alexandria, and the survivors are desperately trying to escape.

The bullet shattered his face but didn't penetrate the skull, allowing him to survive. Carl's injury led to a visual change in appearance and mental growth as a character in The Walking Dead.
