‘It’s unfathomable.’ Flooding strikes portions of Vermont on same day for third consecutive year. By Paul Heintz Globe correspondent,Updated July 10, 2025, 10:16 p.m.
While Thursday’s floods were much smaller in scale than in previous years, the date’s symbolic nature brought painful memories and underlined the new regularity of flooding in Vermont.
Up to 200 of Vermont’s 247 cities and towns reported flooding in the past two years, with a VTDigger survey finding several dozen still awash in red ink and repairs.
