A chemical leak at a Vinton County explosives manufacturer on June 11 prompted evacuations and a no-fly order around the southeast Ohio plant. The leak produced a large plume of yellowish gas.

Vinton County is the least populous county in Ohio, with only 12,800 residents recorded in the 2020 census. Its County seat is McArthur, near the Austin Powder Red Diamond plant.
