SynopsisUttarakhand has become the first state in India to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) after Goa, which brings a common set of laws to all the citizens of India regardless of their religion.

The BJP had made a promise to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand in the run-up to the 2022 assembly polls.
