Yooperlites are rocks that fluoresce under UV light. The best time to search for Yooperlites is after a storm, when waves may have unearthed new rocks along the shores of Lake Superior.

The park features sandstone cliffs, beaches, waterfalls, and over 100 miles of trails. Established as a National Lakeshore in 1966, the area boasts a rich history dating back over 10,000 years.
