New York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander has been arrested at a federal building in Manhattan as he was trying to “accompany” a person out of an immigration courtroom.

New York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was released from federal custody Tuesday afternoon, hours after he was arrested by officers at immigration court in Manhattan after he tried to escort a migrant whom officers were attempting to arrest.

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested outside of immigration court in lower Manhattan. Lander, who’s running in next week’s Democratic primary for mayor, was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Tuesday,
