Tiger lilies prefer acid soil but tolerate almost any kind, even alkaline, though they won't grow in heavy, wet clay. The soil should be well-drained and the site sheltered from wind.

Tiger lilies do best with a little (not a lot) of shade. Perhaps I’m not giving them enough shade in my garden that it’s slowing them down. They also won’t tolerate soggy soils.
