As a Nittany Lion, Jacobs posted 170 tackles (105 solo), 24 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, one forced fumble, three pass breakups, two interceptions and one defensive touchdown in 45 games (36 starts).

Linebackers Curtis Jacobs and Andrew Parker, tackle Caleb Jones, and center Lecitus Smith were cut by New England. None of the four were expected to contribute significantly this season.

Jacobs, though, didn't make the Chiefs' initial 53-man roster out of training camp, and he was waived Aug. 27. The Patriots claimed Jacobs off waivers, and he joined New England the next day.
