Fire crews were dispatched around 1 a.m. to the property on Main Street in Sutter Creek. The second-story blaze was under control by 3:10 a.m., the Sutter Creek Police Department said.
It's unknown what caused the fire. Sutter Creek has a population of about 2,500 people and is located 45 miles southeast of Sacramento. The town still maintains its gold rush features.
