Colorado Springs firefighters to begin mitigation work at Stratton Open Space in August; trail closures possible - MSNStratton Open Space sits on the southwest side of the city and is a true neighborhood park, surrounded by homes and schools. It’s also directly adjacent to the 1,600-acre North Cheyenne Canon.
According to the City of Colorado Springs, mitigation work will occur over more than 260 acres. Stratton Open Space will remain open at this time, but intermittent trail closures will be in place.
The Rocky Mountain Field Institute is entering its 2023 season of trail work, open space restoration, and volunteer engagement in an ongoing effort to promote good stewardship in recreational spaces.
