A wildfire near the Sandy Ridge community is nearly contained in Stokes county. Fire officials are still asking you to avoid the area at this time along Goins School Road.

STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — Monday, March 24 Update: The North Carolina Forest Service reported the wildfire burned 276 acres and is 100 percent contained.

At 5:14 p.m. on Thursday, the NWS Blacksburg VA issued a flash flood warning in effect until 11:15 p.m. for Rockingham and Stokes counties.
