Stephen Strasburg was on the mound in a Grapefruit League game, 10 days since he departed his last such appearance with what, believe it or not, was a ruptured tendon in his left calf.

Strasburg has been on the 10-day injured list with a neck strain since June 2 and spent some time on the IL earlier in the season with right shoulder inflammation.

Tanner Roark (4-3) earned the win after pitching 4 1/3 innings in relief of Strasburg. "Thankfully we have a 15-game winner in the bullpen who can come and do what he did," Harper said of Roark.

It's a mighty small sampling. Strasburg throws at least 98 mph and perhaps 101-102. His breaking ball is even more feared than his fastball. Unless everybody is wrong, he has good control.

Strasburg also revealed to team officials that he had suffered similar episodes while pitching at San Diego State , but that in each case he stayed in the game and continued pitching without problems.
