Halifax County’s Staunton River State Park has joineds an elite group of only 25 worldwide to be named an International Dark Sky Park. The designation is a boon for those who enjoy stargazing.

Staunton River State Park, recognized as an International Dark Sky Park, is set to offer self-guided astronomy programs throughout 2025 at its Dark Sky Observation Field.
