The first footage from the upcoming season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds teases new genre-twisting episodes that give Star Trek takes on a murder mystery, a romantic comedy and a documentary-style episode. The stunt episodes build on the Paramount+ sci-fi show’s second season, which made headlines with a musical episode.

One other thing that will catch viewers’ attention right away: The holodeck is back! It had been stated before, that Starfleet ships in the 23rd century didn’t have holodecks, but suddenly here is one — that grid pattern is unmistakable — and the crew seems to be using it to solve a whodunnit, Christie-style.
