In 1969, the Catholic Church said that the annual feast day of Saint Mary Magdalene, on 22 July, relates only to the woman who saw the risen Jesus and not the other women mentioned by Pope Gregory.
The encounter was one of a series of Saturday jubilee audiences of 2025, following a first meeting with pilgrims and a heart-to-heart with journalists.
In spite of being within driving distance of other Lutheran church titans, St. Mary Magdalene Lutheran Church has grown in the last 20 years as a quaint gathering spot for suburban families.
