A fire burned at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Detroit early Tuesday, damaging the building that has stood at the corner of Rosa Parks and LaSalle Gardens for more than a century.

St. Agnes Church and Rectory burned for over an hour. The rectory building is a complete loss, and residents came outside around 1 a.m. to see both of these historic buildings on fire.

A church deacon ran him over with a Ford F-150 pickup truck, senior pastor Bobby Kelly Jr. told The Detroit News. A church security guard then fatally shot the attacker, Kelly said.
