COIMBATORE: An adult female elephant that sustained injuries during mating with a tusker a few days ago died without responding to the treatment in Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) on Thursday.

A juvenile female wild elephant was found dead in a private estate in Manombolly Forest Range on Tuesday. The death, the Forest Department surmised, had occurred due to an apparent fall down a slope.

Tourist ignored warnings, rode toward agitated elephant, leading to fatal attack that tossed him into the woods.
