Multiple NEXT Weather Alerts are in effect this week because of snow, sleet and rain expected in the Delaware Valley.

As expected, (and just like the groundhog promised!), winter is far from over on Delmarva. The coming week will feature what’s likely to be an accumulating snow event for much of the peninsula, followed up by another quick moving storm that may be more of a rain maker.

There’s a triple threat brewing that will impact Virginia with mixed precipitation including snow, ice and rain this week.

The Baltimore area is bracing for rain, sleet and snow in the early part of the weekend before more wintry weather returns next week. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Baltimore City from Saturday morning until midnight Sunday.

Most of the models are suggesting that we'll see isolated showers in the morning for portions of the Southside and northeastern North Carolina. It is likely going to be a cold rain before moving out for the afternoon, while all of us in Hampton Roads stay dry, but our skies will be mostly cloudy.

On Saturday afternoon, snow will move through the state from south to north, according to the National Weather Service. The snow will not accumulate more than an inch anywhere in Delaware and will give way to sleet and freezing rain throughout the evening. Eventually, it will change over to all rain.

Forecasters are predicting this weekend’s storm to be similar to the winter weather that impacted central Pa. on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
