In order to enable 5G support on phones with Snapdragon 855 SoC, OEMs have to use the Snapdragon X50 modem. So this version of OPPO Reno5 5G should include the said chip and the modem.
Qualcomm is pushing the envelope on 5G by announcing it successfully made a 5G data connection using the company’s Snapdragon x50 5G modem in the 28 GHz millimeter wave (mmWave) band.
The Snapdragon X50 5G offers “unprecedented” download speeds of up to 5Gbps. For comparison, Qualcomm’s most advanced commercialised 4G modem offers 450Mbps transfers.
