The funny-looking Shih Tzu dog breed has been around for at least 1,000 years. Records show that its ancestors were in China as far back as 1000 B.C. The Shih Tzu originally hails from Tibet.

We received this photo from Kathy Shulkum of Southwest Roanoke County. This is Cookie, an 8 year-old Shih Tzu that she rescued from the Elliston Dalmatian Rescue a year ago.
