A new Shelby mural features images that highlight the city's new rail trail and its musical heritage. "It's just to bring some liveliness to another corner of town," Bostic said.

The 22.6-mile trail winds through rural and wooded terrain and through the communities of Hart, Mears, Shelby, New Era, Rothbury and Montague.
