WESTPORT — Board of Health Chair Tanja Ryden issued a public health advisory on Friday, July 16, warning of a blue-green algae bloom in the South Watuppa Pond near the Tickle Road area.
Flooding in March 2010 raised the level of the South Watuppa pond by a full 39 inches. On the Westport side of the pond, streets were swamped, and some houses became islands of their own.
