Savannah once tried to dye the river green for St. Patrick's Day, but it was a failure that resulted in the city saying it'd never do it again.
In 1961, Savannah used 20 boats to dump green dye into the river to give it a green tinge. Unfortunately, the water moved too rapidly and it left only streaks of green throughout the river.
