The Sandbanks chain ferry is out of action for two weeks for a refit. The ferry, Bramble Bush Bay, crosses between Sandbanks and Shell Bay daily - twice an hour, each way.
The chain ferry spans the 250-yard entrance of Poole Harbour from Sandbanks to Studland. It takes four minutes to cross as opposed to the 40 minutes to drive the long way round.
