There's new competition in the external USB SSD market in the form of the SK Hynix Beetle X31. It's shiny gold, vaguely reminiscent of a beetle's elytra, and a tad pricier than the competition.

SK Hynix's Tube T31 is designed externally like a standard Type-A USB thumb drive, but performs more like the external SSD it actually is. Fast, portable, universally connectable.

SK Hynix's Tube T31, however, is different. It is marketed as a USB drive, but instead of other flash drives, it houses an SSD inside, and is able to go up to 1,000MB/s for as little as $79.

The Tube 31 may look like a regular USB thumb drive, but it's much faster with speeds up to 1,000MB/s which is much quicker than most thumb drives and as fast as an SSD.

The standard USB-A 3.2 Gen2 connector is compatible with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Mac, albeit you may need a USB-A to USB-C adapter for some computers.
