The Giants used their first two selections of the 2025 MLB draft on a pair of contact-oriented, middle-of-the-diamond position players by selecting Tennessee shortstop Gavin Kilen in the first round and Rutgers outfielder Trevor Cohen in the third round. On the draft’s second day, San Francisco will have 16 picks from rounds 4-20.

Assuming the SF Giants sign all 18 of their picks, there will be a sense of familiarity with a trio of picks. Jordan Gottesman (sixth round), Cam Maldonado (seventh round), and Cooper McGrath (18th round) all came from Northeastern University.
