Royal Hudson Locomotive No. 2860, the one now used on the sightseeing ride here, was built in 1940 and spent 16 years hauling passenger trains across this southwestern province.
Royal Hudson #2860 was built in 1940 for the Canadian Pacific Railway, but was retired after only 18 years of service as steam power was withdrawn across Canada.
The plan is for the Royal Hudson to travel between North Vancouver and Squamish carrying passengers who pay $125 for a one-way trip. Passengers then take a chartered bus back to their starting point.
