The Rockefeller Center tree will be lit up from 5 a.m. to midnight through mid-January. On Christmas Eve, it will be lit for 24 hours, and on New Year's Eve, it will be lit from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Rockefeller Center will commemorate its 90th Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET. The decades-long holiday tradition dates back to 1931, in the midst of the Great Depression.
The Rockefeller Foundation went on to establish themselves as industrialists and philanthropists throughout U.S. history, and have given away an estimated $1 billion to varying charitable causes.
