Back in the ‘90s, Clip Art took over Word and PowerPoint files thanks to the thousands of office workers and students who used the images as a way to "improve" their documents.

Microsoft announced that it is eliminating clip art libraries from its suite of Office productivity software, and replacing it with Bing Image search. But the iconic illustrations may live on.

In later versions of Word and Office, the database of Clip Art grew to include over 100,000 illustrations, offering users seemingly limitless options.

We next turned to 1,000 laypeople to generate word associations to these terms in order to understand how the general public understands them in the context of viewing art.
