The jets left RAF Lossiemouth at around noon and the Voyager was leading the formation as it headed to the US. On journeys that require air-to-air refuelling, the Voyager plane always leads the fleet.
A Royal Air Force plane that was flying near Edinburgh on Wednesday was forced to declare a mid-air emergency. The Typhoon, which left RAF Lossiemouth at around midday, had a refuelling issue.
