SLEEPY EYE, Minn. (TND) — When the Minnesota Legislature announced a law that would ban Native American mascots in public schools, Sleepy Eye Public Schools was ready to fight to keep its own.

In North Carolina, 34 public schools have American Indian logos or mascots, according to the State Advisory Council on Indian Education. State lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban them.
