The Public Library Fund receives 1.7% of Ohio’s general revenue fund, which is powered by sales and personal income taxes and other revenue sources.

But library advocates point out that Ohio's library funding has been flat for more than two decades. Twenty-five years ago, the Public Library Fund gave the state's public libraries $491 million.

In 2022, Ohio spent $90.44 per person in state and local money on public libraries, which was above the national average of $48.56, according to the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
