The USDA is updating an important map for gardeners and growers picking plants and flowers. The new map shows the contiguous U.S. is about 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the last map 11 years ago.

The USDA divides the United States into seven planting regions, known as hardiness zones, which were most recently updated in 2023.The maps below show these planting regions.

Before dropping money on new plants, it’s important to note that the USDA is adjusting some of its zones that help with deciding the types of flowers to plant.
